Artist Talk: Quilt Artist Luke Haynes
Saturday, April 28, 2012 - 2:00 pm
Luke Haynes, whose background as an architect deeply informs his quilts, unites traditional quilt patterns with bold photo-based images. The monumental scale of Haynes’s quilts is made possible by his mastery of a long-arm quilting machine. The artist will show some of his quilts and discuss his interest in utility, aesthetics, nostalgia, reuse, and gender bias.
Metropolitan-area quilt guild demonstrations precede the talk, 11 am–1:30 pm.
