The engrossing world and masterful artwork of beloved collection artist Henry Darger continues to inspire, informing the practices of countless artists across disciplines. Join us for a special staging of Act One of The Vivian Girls: A play with music. This theatrical work explores the time when Darger’s protagonists are left to author their own experience. They are no longer held to Darger’s image of them nor subject to interpretation by the art world.

According to playwright Stacy Sims, this story “speaks to the broader questions of what happens when we are free to craft our own adolescent narrative. Are we particularly good stewards of our own story and desires?”
