Masterpieces of American Jewelry
August 20, 2004–January 23, 2005
The National Jewelry Institute, a nonprofit organization established to organize exhibitions and support research of important jewelry of the last three centuries, presents "Masterpieces of American Jewelry" at the American Folk Art Museum. The exhibition features more than 150 dazzling pieces of American jewelry ranging from the end of the 18th to the end of the 20th centuries. Drawn from private and corporate collections, the show highlights the artistry of jewelry designers whose creations were made in workshops and retailed in America by firms such as Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, Bulgari, and JAR. Also on view are watercolor-on-ivory pieces from the museum's collection.
