In the Atrium: Recent Gifts to the Collection
October 7, 2008–April 5, 2009
Among the recent gifts to the museum’s permanent collection are a delcate love token, a pair of tinsel paintings, a still life of fruit, portraits by John S. Blunt and Elias V. Coe, a Barnum & Bailey Circus wagon carving attributed to Samuel Anderson Robb, the iconic Uncle Sam Riding a Bicycle Whirligig, 1909 Hupmobile Weathervane, and Columbia Weathervane, several textiles, including a wool cow blanket, a pictorial table rug, and a pieced and appliquéd lap quilt, and drawings and paintings by Consuelo “Chelo” González Amézcua, Eugene Andolsek, Charles Benefiel, Alexander Bogardy, Wellington Bridgewater, Sister Elijah, Lee Godie, Chris Hipkiss, Dwight Mackintosh, Justin McCarthy, Louis Monza, Martin Thompson, and George Widener.
